Just to give you an idea check out the alignment section. This is what turns a store bought hand tuned radio into a great radio.

From where I come from a good tune is a receive align, transmit align, and Audio done on a scope to make sure it is clear and not over modulated. SSB Radios need to be dead on Center Slot after a warm up period.
