How much are you looking to spend, and do you want repeater capability or just simplex?



Also, do you want the ability to use an external antenna or plan to operate just with an HT antenna?

Most of the ham HT's can be modified to work GMRS. It's illegal to TX but you can monitor.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT="">
