Hi gang, I recently acquired this grab box of Estate Pieces. Was working presumed but unknown. Took a chance. Everything works pretty well as tested. I'm a longtime General Class op. Never owned any of these exact pieces but readily knew how to adjust/test them all with some glancing at manual sheets available online with simple Google search. No manuals included with any pieces.
Bencher BY-1 Paddle Keyer. Needed adjusting to check out but all adjustments working as should. No corrosion whatsover on any parts but there is a curious splotch of missing paint on the top. Is matte black hammer finish. No etching in the metal where the paint is missing .... just curious spot of missing paint ?? Bit of paint off the bottom. Will let you repaint if desired. Pic of bottom to show connected to the MFJ Sounder and includes Hex Wrench. All other adjustments use screwdrivers. These are $165 / HRO
Was with a MFJ 422B Pacesetter Electronic Paddle Keyer. This I believe was both a stand-alone practice keyer with its built-in speaker / and appears to have output for connection to radio to use directly as an Electronic Keyer. I am not an expert on these things but that is the way it looks. NOW - For some reason the built-in paddles on the side of the unit were removed and the Bottom Cover is missing. Unit is clean inside, has port for Wall Wart power and 9V Battery connector. I installed a battery and connected to the keyer. Unit powered right up. Adjusted the Volume and Speed and started making beautiful music right away with the Bencher Keyer. So I am assuming that these two were used this way .... as a Practice Keyer Setup and the Bencher may well have been used directly on a rig as well. The 422B was probably around $80 judging by similar models.
There are 2 Autek Research HF (only) Antenna Analyzers. One is the RF-1. The other a VA-1. These were known to be okay units (see reviews at eham.net) They were liked for being small lightweight, portability and liked for Field Use for these reasons. Both run on a 9V batt. Simple intuitive operation. Press button through Band Seqments. Dial in a Frequency, then read SWR, Ohms, Inductatance, Capacitance. The VA-1 has at 3 additional Function Modes and I didn't spend any time trying to figure out what they were. Just checked the basic functions that I was readily familiar with. Tested on 40 Meters on my 80 Meter loop antenna. Pics of both showing working on Freq, SWR and Ohms. All LED Segments in both meters are working. The contrast varies as the meters are tilted forward and back. So these both gave similar and expected readings on my known good and working antenna. I have several other antennas I could have checked but didn't bother as these units seem to be working as expected with this test. I did tune the units through their range which is 160M thru a little above 30mhz. The RF-1 goes something past 35mhz and the VA-1 goes a bit past 32 mhz. These are certainly not the fanciest or most expensive Antenna Analyzers ever made but they do the job in the shack or the field are were generally worth their money for their purpose at the time they were made. They sold for around $130 each.
Last is the obvious Red Model Palomar Noise Bridge. Also uses a 9V. For pre-tuning antennas. Simple instruction sheet is online. Connected to my tabletop rig and loop antenna and tested on 80,20 and 10. Works exactly as should. These sold for $70
Original retail on all was around $575. Would like to sell all 5 pieces together for $200 shipped. Includes insurance and tracking. All pieces will be securely bubble wrapped with any additional padding needed so no movement inside box. OR will trade only for an Icom IC-2300 2 meter mobile which should be all working with mic, mounting bracket with screws and power cord. Box and manual would be nice but not required. (Value $179 new)
