Guy wants to quit HAM radio

Nope. No way to release them when you want to crank the tower back down. When working on them you are supposed to crank them down and then block them with a 2x4 thru the cross members to prevent them from becoming a guillotine.

interesting, a buddy of mine has a 80' crank up tower and it cranks up and down manually or automatic with a wench and it has SAFTEY Latches at each section i think its 4 sections

How do the safety latches retract when cranking down? I know the ratchet and pawl system on the crank has a safety to prevent free wheeling if you should let go of the handle. Some have a worm drive which is even better.

There on some kind of hinge. U pull it out it lays verticle. Bring it horizontal it slides in a square thingamajigger. I think the previous owner made them

So it is an aftermarket add-on then. I could be wrong but as far as I know there is no such device on factory towers. I wonder how he activated the top latches at sixty feet up.

I like the concept of crank up towers, but I would probably go with a Hazer instead. I also like the tubular crank up towers as well.

I was considering a crank up tower but they do not play well when running heliax cable. You need to have flexible cable when using crank ups. The hazer is a decent idea but that means a straight tubular tower which rules out tapered freestanding towers. I hate guyed towers and I love my heliax so I had to settle with a tapered freestanding tower.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
