Ham Frequency

Doc; correct me if wrong, but I think some of the "DOT" freq's have been opened without a licence (i.e. 154.600).

Thanks

If it is VHF there is no standard off set. It is what ever they were assigned. If it is UHF (Under 512 Mhz) then it is 5Mhz. 800 Mhz is 45 Mhz. But then there are always exceptions.

I was listening to some guys on my Pro 2006 scanner the other day, And they where on 151.625 and was wondering what type of rig they would be talking on ? as I'm not into ham just C.B. I do know that this is VHF high at least I hope I'm right ? and is it leagal for them or me for that matter to be talking there ? Here is another one what type of raido would i need ? and what type of license would i have to have to talk in that area ? I have heard that you can also Modife the 2 meter riges to tall here is this true? as if so I may look at taking my ham test, also do this people that are talking have to give there call numbers ? Thanks for the help and all that reply.

what would be a good mobile or hand held 2 meter ?

Programed an empty bank in my pro 2026 with the MURS freqs and haven`t heard one transmission in two weeks. Maybe my antenna system is not up to snuff. Especially after the welder incident. Damn rg8x looks like licorice bubble wrap.

Ranger,

I don’t have a specific answer for you, too many variables. If you’re looking for VHF with FM only most of the major ham brands will do. When I was looking for a ham radio that would cover all of the business frequencies I needed I choose the ICOM 3220H, but that was over a decade a go. My suggestion would be to look around for radios in your price ranges and then go to www.mods.dk to find out what the expanded frequency range is after modification.
