Handheld / Walkie Talkie CB Radio

Does anyone here know if a handheld CB radio will work if I connect the vehicle's CB antenna to it, or is the radio tuned / set-up for the "rubber ducky" antenna only? Thank you.

It works GREAT. When my Dad and I went from CT to Maine to visit my grandparents I did this during the trip

my go to when traveling with some one else is a cobra 45 hooked into cigarette lighter and a k40 mag mount on roof,,,,

Work great. I have an old Midland Walkie that I used to let people use when on road trips.

Only issue would be if the rubber ducky on the hand held is not removable. Next issue would be if it is removable but has a screw on thread type attachment or maybe a bnc type connector. You would need some kind of adapter so the PL259 could connect.

The biggest W.T. disappointment I've ever had was with Midland's 13-778 AM/SSB handheld. Over the decades I've never had one that worked well.

I use a Cherokee AH100 and a Realistic TRC 226 all the time in the mobile. Because it has SSB as well as a scan function, the Cherokee is my primary. However, the TRC 226 is excellent, too. I'll hook up to the magnetic mount antenna on the car and get out just fine. I've even used them and a TRC 216 or a TRC 234 (both walkie-talkies) as my base radios to the surprise of many.

The Cherokee AH 100 comes with an adapter that has both a cigarette lighter plug and a coax connector.

For the TRC 226, I have a tnc coax adapter and a separate cigarette lighter plug.

For the TRC 234, I have a bnc coax adapter and a separate cigarette lighter plug.

For the TRC 216, I have an RCA adapter plug and a separate cigarette lighter plug.

with my cobra 45 i use a radio shack speaker mike and have never had any one complain about the modulation,,,
