Handy 1 kW HF Dummy Load

Hard to say what the actual impedance is when operating at HF but it is likely good enough for a tube transmitter or amplifier. Back when I was in broadcasting we had a couple home made dummy loads for our 1 Kw AM transmitters. One used two oven elements mounted wired in series on the wall in a V shape and another used two large stove top elements also wired in series. The stove top elements only required a very small home made coil and a single capacitor to make it a pure 50 ohms on the high end of the AM broadcast band. Both loads would take 1 Kw at full modulation making it 4 Kw pep. Not sure what they would be like on HF but with the proper L/C it should work anywhere.
