Heil Base Mics

I was looking for a new base mic for my FT-847,And was thinking of a Heil Classic W/HC5.

Would like to get some input from guy's that are using this type of mic.

Doc, You have just given me a great Idea! I have several headsets(including David Clark) that I use in my airplane. I had never even thought about trying them on my "other" radio equipment.

I need to get busy this weekend, and build an adapter to connect to my Base.

Man, I love this forum! So many great Ideas.

I broke down and bought the Heil Pro-set with both the 4 and 5 element. It's the headset, and I love the thing. It's comfortable and the phase switch in the earphones is nice, it helps in tough conditions. I've not heard them yet. I usually have my wife use the base I use the mobile to hear the base set. I've talked to 765, Ed, quite a few times, he could tell you how they sound compared to the other mics I've used.

That Pro-set sounds sweet. The HC-5 is probably the best sounding mic cartridge available out there. I have listened to several out in DX land on several different setups and all have sounded excellent. Are you talking about the 10-DAL head? The super side band?

I've got one of those on the knight eagle bases. They do sound good, it's a close toss betweed that and the Turner plus 3 desk mics, good sound to them.
