Hello everyone, I am new here, I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for an ant. for my Cobra 89XLR Base. Also I am having problems using the built in SWR. Any ideas on that would be great aswell.

Welcome to the forum.
As far as the antenna goes; how much have budgeted for? The coax cable and the antenna mast should be considered too. Need more info...

Maby about $150 or so, I also want to put a linear in-line with this setup because I live out in the sticks....

I had it connected to a truck antenna , I believe it was an original FireStick to test it with, and I had trouble reading the SWR so I discontinued use of my rig because I dident want to blow anything ( this being my best radio in all), I am going to the local CB shop and going to pick up a nice SWR unit.

Suggestions on a linear would be nice as-well, also a price-guide.

This radio is a late 70's model, it's really picky about what mic will work with it, I have only one mic that it likes, I got it from a guy on Craigslist in exchange for a cheap digital camera.

I appreciate the offer but I would like to buy locally, Anyone have experience with the SWR in late 70's Cobras? The 89XLR in paticular, or maby I am just reading it wrong?
