Higher voltage = higher wattage output?

OK - to answer your original question - don't bother upping the voltage. Not worth the trouble. You will only get a small fractional percentage increase which means nothing, and the other guy will never see it.

Yes, you can increase voltage slightly to lower the amp's IMD, but even that is not significant, and not worth the bother.

Run your amp at 13.8 VDC and be done with it. If you want more power, get a bigger amp. Besides, I don't like RM's amps as they are all basically low-drive amps. My basic amp of choice is the 4 X 2879 (or it's mosfet equivalent). Anything else is a waste of time and $$$.

Advise Don`t get much better than this.
The 4X2879 (example is a Texas Star DX-500 or TnT 600HD) is just about the best bang for your buck you can get for a plug n play reliable Mobile set-up.
Feed it well, do not over drive it and keep it cool.

There is no doubt that 20V will double the power of a 1446 and shorten it's life by 99%.
If I believed everything I read on the internet, I would be making $50,000 a week working part time out of my home.

Oh, I think a few guys have done it like that. But then they learn the hard way that it really isn't such a great idea after all. I wouldn't do it; nor would I recommend to anyone that it should be done that way - either . . .

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
