Homemade beam for a reciever

There are online calculators that you can plug the numbers into the fields to give you proper element spacing once you have the element diameter. You can even find online calculators that figure pretty much everything else out. You only have to plug in the number of elements you want to use with the frequency desired and it will calculate the diameter of the elements/boom and other parameters such as boom length and the gain expected. Just use "Google" and type in what your after. Most of the stuff I have seen is for 3 or 4 element yagis but you can find ones that will accommodate more elements. Here are some examples:
