Homer, I figured out what was wrong with my overlay pattern noted above. I used the wrong trace for the overlay.

Here is the correct trace over the regular I-10K model and this agrees with the details above which now shows the 1.08 dbi difference in the gain between regular radials and shortened radials.

Sorry Homer, I think you wanted to see a 5/8 with 4 - 9' foot horizontal radials, and not one with 4' 9" radials.

As a note, my default 5/8 wave already has radials that are 8.5' feet. I'll do the model, but can you tell me what the point of considering this small change is? Just curious.

It is that I build a 5/8 with four 9' long radials, and then I tried that 5/8 with twelve 3' lone radials, which I didn't like. I wondered what the model would show on each.
