There is a large stud on the back that says GROUND. I found some directions for this linear and it says: "connect a good outside ground to stud on rear of unit". We never did this back in the day so I'm a bit surprised. Can someone explain how to ground this amp? I guess they want a wire from the stud,....but to where?
Thanks.

Really? This is the first time that I ever heard of grounding a linear amp. We always grounded our antenna, but that was it.

Grounding is a safety thingy. It doesn't hurt to ground everything in your radio room. The problem with grounding, both safety grounding and RF grounding, is that it ain't simple at all. Multiple ground rods are primarily a 'safety' thing, keep you from getting shocked. RF wire, ground rods are next to useless. (Putting on my asbestos underwear!)
