how effective is a j pole antenna on 11 meters ?

Has anyone tried truck cb sales 11 meter j pole antenna, kind of pricey for antenna, claiming 6.15 db of gain

What a bunch of hooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A J-pole is just an end-fed, vertically polarized, half wave antenna, which has exactly 0db gain. That's 0dbd. No gain. Nada.

If you stick a second half wave section on top of an existing j-pole, with a cancellation stub between them, then you would then get 3dbd gain. But such an antenna would be 45 feet long to be resonant at 11 meters LOL! And you're still nowhere close to 6.15 db......

I'm sure they will still get lots of suckers buying them.
 
BC Coyote is absolutly correct.

The only advantage I can think of would be its height.
It could outperform other (smaller) CB antennas when placed on the same mast. As it can "see" further ...and it might rise above possible obstacles (compared to the other)
They are easy to construct yourself :
