How To Listen To Your CB Audio ?

OK, so I understand, what you transmit as in modulation
would sound different than the modulation from a talkback?
I am not familiar with talkback as I do not use it.

I thought over modulation would show-up either place,
as an over modulated voice sound.

The unit I was looking for to link to, is not on e-bay right
now. That one connected with a coax jumper between the
antenna and the transmitter.
Then headphones would plug into that.
That unit would monitor the sound, the way you are indicating
would be more accurate.

If you have something like that youll never need a radio check again. They are very cheap to build. The guy on ebay called it the audio checker or something like that. I have around $10 in the one I built. It would have been cheaper if I hadn't bought a new project box and so-239s. You can use an old pot from a junk radio to control the volume.

This is what I first found:
eBay item #321522541218

Those of us that for several reasons can not or do not built everything
have to buy stuff.

Oh and in reference to my other reply, does talkbak indicate over modulation?
I have never used it. Some of these toys were not in vogue when I was into CB before and honestly can not see me using for them while talking now.
So I am asking a real question.

Poor idea. The nooelec is overdriven easily, but can be modified to work. It's a toy..a cool toy but a toy.
Thinking about getting one of these because they can be had for so little and have so many useful features with the software. Would use a dummy load instead of the supplied antenna; that should cut down the overload considerably.

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned

Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
