HR 2510 missing Q 121...WHY?

Hi Everyone,
So, I have an HR 2510 on the bench and have done a cap replacement and the removal of the crazy glue of death (which was a lot). This radio is missing Q121 and I have no idea why. It does receive and transmit. Has anyone seen a mod where you remove Q121 or have any thoughts as to why someone would remove it? I would hate to return it to the OP and then find out that it should be there. He has no idea why its missing.

Q121 is the AMC sensing transistor, that feeds the AMC/ALC circuit.

Most likely to defeat the AMC, if I remember right Q121 is part of the modulation control.
Will look when i get a chance.

2 minutes apart. But, yes. VR114 is the adjustment, and it can be overadjusted to get the same "boxcars" effect as removing Q121. Typical bad info.

But if you WANT to sound like someone playing a kazoo when you transmit, this is the ticket.
