With Hurricane Irene -- currently a Category 2 storm -- making its way through the Caribbean and taking aim at the Atlantic seaboard, the Hurricane Watch Net (HWN) has begun activating its nets and monitoring 14.325 MHz in support of WX4NHC, the Amateur Radio Station at the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
