I'm enjoy the radios a lot, and the chirp software is pretty good stuff.
So this was my next purchase.
These are the AR-5RM radios... the unlocked version with different style of antennas.



Then I bought these...



Although these radios have a nice size battery to start with (2500 mAh) I thought a couple larger batteries couldn't hurt. Right?

Yes, I've been talking on these quite a bit. Undertaker has a set of these and he is just over a half mile from me (as measured via Google Earth) and we talk at least once a day. Me in my house and him in his recliner. Perfectly clear audio. They're also both turned down to 5 watts. We have also talked when I'm in my office which is 1 1/2 miles from him. And if you're wondering... yes, we both have our gmrs license. It takes all of about 24 hours to get your call sign.

I recently hit a local repeater that's 7 miles away. Not too bad!! They're definitely fun radios to operate.

I just got the same setup.. Fm radio weather gmrs frs murs.. Air band..
So far just playing with it.. Got to dive into the manual set up channels got access to a couple not so local repeaters when I signed up wit my gmrs.com

Next time the skip is in let's see if we can hook up on FM. We have half a dozen UV-5Rs to use at the farm. Best bang for the buck.

I'm looking to put up a base antenna.. Already have 5 antennas up.. Lol have to find a place for it.. Might move my horizontal to the back of my house and put the gmrs antenna just above it.,
