Sorry for so many posts but I'm gettin hooked :-}

Ok ol #7 convinced me to go ahead and get the Grant LT. I will be ordering it in the morning. Now been thinkin(dangerious stuff for sure, I'm really not equiped for it). Does it make any sense and or do you guy's take your radios out of your rigs and use em as a base once in a while? I was thinkin about bein able to move the Grant to my "office" once in a while and use er while on the puter while doin some work. What kinda stuff would I need to do this? I have a couple of trees just out the window I could mount an antenna on. Would this work? Is this more trouble than it's worth or does it work well?

One other thing. I am usin a K40 mag mount on the toolbox of my PU. When I get the Grant LT with the SSB will this antenna be a good one or will it have to be replaced with one that services the ssb better?

Thanks again guys

About the Office, you will need a power source, don't ask me the size but I think a 10 amp will do her. For antenna I am not an expert so I would believe others first. You could try a dipole but I am not sure how well the dipole will work since I never used one but I will be in my apartment this summer. I hope i helped.

Thumbs1,

I use a mobile radio as a base and it works great, You will need a power supply to run it off of, but no sweat. Just wire your radio with one of those polarized plugs, so it is easy to disconnect and reconnect. As far as antennas go, the Antron 99 is about the easiest base antenna to setup and use. Inexpensive too. So go for it,

Hello,

The LT is identical (in every important way) in function to a Cobra 2000. So I'd guess it'll make an adequate base radio with a power supply. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Enjoy!
