Re: APARTMENT BUILDING INSTALL

HRO sells a "window jam mount" or something like that. It goes over the window sill and is held in by the window. I have looked at it personally in the store and it looks like it will work good. No drilling required. You can use whatever stud you like...could even put a 102" whip on it. If you use a 1/4 wave antenna, you might have to figure out something for a groundplane. A 102" wire attached to the mount and dropped right below the antenna might work pretty good.

Re: APARTMENT BUILDING INSTALL

The mount I described angles the antenna out away from the building. It could be used on a railing or in a window jam. Sounds like that's your best bet. Go find it at www.hamradio.com. Look in the online catalog, in the antenna section.

Re: APARTMENT BUILDING INSTALL

Why not just use some C clamps to the rail ?

Re: APARTMENT BUILDING INSTALL

Why don't you use the mount I told you about? Just drill into the rail right through it? Use a 102" whip. Metal railing = Groundplane problem solved.

Re: APARTMENT BUILDING INSTALL

Just get a L shaped mirror mount bracket and bend it so it's pointing away from the rail. Then drill and mount it into the rail.

Re: APARTMENT BUILDING INSTALL

They have the L mirror mount bracket at every truck stop. And on about 40 different websites....

I currently have a serious problem with an antenna install, I live in an apartment building and want to install a balcony rig, but i cannot drill or mar the finish.

I also have someone living above me and below me, so installing something huge is not an option. The biggest i can go is 102'' on an angle.

Please help me figure this out

Thanks
