I've posted a few threads on how to create D-Star hotspots using an FM radio as the interface, but all of those methods required you still own a D-Star radio to actually TX/RX with. Now there's a method to connect to the various D-Star repeaters and reflectors using only your existing FM radios and a few fairly inexpensive boards and free software.
In this video, VK3ZEA demonstrates how to do exactly that using a Raspberry Pi with an AMBE3000 board coupled with a DMK Engineering USB radio interface and a basic VHF rig
