I've added talk back to a Grant classic (almost identical inside to the Grant DX), using the modulation meter switch to bypass the diode in front of the audio chip. I use a small amount of reverb sometimes and thought it would be cool to monitor at the radio. In SSB it sounds terrible (with or without the reverb...lol), is this normal or do I have an issue with my SSB filtering or modulator chip? I made a quick video to describe what I'm talking about. The video is edited down from 3 minutes, because I ramble on about irrelevant stuff that I think someone might ask me about. Here's the (mostly) relevant part. Check it out!

.... Yes that is a lot of "blue". Because of color blindness I have a hard time seeing Red, Amber and green displays during daylight driving.
I need to add that while monitored on my SDR the audio sounds fine.

With a dead key in ssb, are you reading movement on the modulation meter? I couldn't tell from the video, aside from the key click. I believe the TalkBack you hear is because of the way the TalkBack mod routes audio from the PA side back to the audio chip. Seems expected to me.

On my old Galaxy DX99V, it sounds exactly like your radio when you have talkback on and transmit on SSB. You are doing well with that radio.

Nothing in the radios Mod meter, only in my external monitor meter. Thanks for the responses.
I needed to hear that someone else has the same result. I think we're hearing what the modulator (AN612) rejects.
