I have a Regency Range Gain tube type 23 channel rig..Is there a possible/feasible way to expand the radio to at least the 40 channel standard

I believe what you are looking for is a 11150Kc, 11200Kc, 11250Kc et cetra each additional rock in that order will get you more channels. http://www.cbcintl.com/XTALS/AM 10850-8615-7500-7975.pdf
I leave the whole 22-25-24-23-26 mess to you .
So you're not out of luck, you're on your own with enough information to be dangerous. ;-)

Keep in mind that you'll have to create a "dead spot" or disable the rear section of the selector

this guy joins the forum three years ago, finally has something to post, and you knock him right out of his chair!

you and i both know he was hoping for sort of an "add a resistor here" type of response and you've got him digging through crystals and adding external oscillators. LMAO!

seriously though, you really did go above and beyond the simple "no" answer, and actually gave him a couple of options. kudos for doing the legwork.

I always enjoy your posts and hope to get to read them for a long time.

It’s merely a single crystal swap if you’re mainly interested in just one particular channel that is locally used in your area. The simplest solution is to swap out the 10.850 crystal that gives you Channels 1 to 4 and replace it with a crystal that will that will cover your desired channel. Of course you will need a cheat sheet to remind yourself what 1 to 4 have now become. If you decide to sell the radio later swapping the crystal back to original is easy. No holes or switches to distract from the price. Many buyers want those old classics left untouched. If you name that channel, I can give you the frequency of the necessary crystal. Hopefully one can be found at a reasonable cost without having the crystal custom made. Custom made crystals are expensive. They’re typically in the $35 range. I agree that having all 40 is not very cost effective, at least for that model.

I have only had this radio since 1962...I was prepared for the answers I got but I just had to ask. I will continue with the 23 for old times sake and look for newer technology that satisfies my deal....BTW Not thin skinned

The Regency is a fine radio. Extra crystals is a pain & expensive. Perhaps a VFO would be better, but not sure if one can be found with the correct operating frequencies.
 
Can you say external VFO???? How much slide does the clarifier have some 23ch tube radio's had so much slide in the clarifier you could actually get close to the full 40.
