ah, the joys of classic radio ownership.
I keyed up my P.Mad yesterday and it keys up fine, with the power meter coming up as it should. I modulate and watch the mod meter swing as it should, but the power meter stays sitting at the 2 watt dead key.

uh-oh.

after checking connections and knob/switch locations I key again, same results, only this time I'm also watching my external meter. output is the normal 2 swinging 6 peak.
reports say I sound normal.

I guess this means I need to finish working on the 142 so I can pull this one apart.

could just be that the output meter is getting sticky.

this can be fixed. search the forum. this fix has been posted many times.
a few by me im sure.

nope, meter displays incoming signals like the day it was made.
the radio needs a complete overhaul. power supply doesn't work, scratchy and loose pots up front, the tone knob may as well be a tone switch, the NB switch blocks the noise by dropping 4 S units, the PA/CB switch is PA at all times unless you push it to the left - and it's an in/out switch...

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
