007 if that last model was your model, then it looks like that the one with only two radials is in free space, and has no feed line or mast attached. Try adding those two missing factors in there and watch the results get more in line with the other model were they were attached and showed less gain. Then maybe it won't even look good at all.

Without the feed line and/or the mast included the antenna splits all the current into the radiator and the sum of the radial elements, the Newton's rule of equal currents opposite phase, is met so naturally the antenna will show a very good gain. That is the whole idea of improving the currents in any raised ground plane at the expense of the currents in the feed line and the mast. Doing that is another thing however.
