Thanks BJ interesting info there. The fact they build and tune the beam before u get it and mark where everything goes so no guess work or measuring to do. I really like the direct feed with the balun. Any thoughts guys?
I built a six element 6m OWA several years ago using tubing from an old Wilson Shooting Star. It works VERY well with a really tight pattern. The OWA stands for Optimized Wideband Array however I would not say it is really wideband. I forget the SWR bandwidth on it but I just care about the bottom 500KHz of so of the band anyway. Many people comment about the really close spacing of the reflector, driver, and first director element but it allows heavy coupling and enhances the forward pattern. I use a coaxial balun at the feedpoint as well. Here it is on the ground as seen from the top of my tower. A pair of 13B2's for 2m are on either side.
I don't have it yet. The plan is use it on the flat side at 60'. But also to unscientificily compare it to my other 6 element owa. Not expecting much of a difference. But curious...
Then using antenna with less gain on my other tower on the vertical side.
superhawkwss6 is a real piece of work. he buys and sells radio equiptment on ebay. this guy is a real scammer. He takes advantage of eBay's buyer protection rules and steals your item. He will bid on your item and win it and buy it. a week or so later after he receives it you get a notice from...
Good news! I opened an appeal case after eBay sided with superhawkwss6. I also opened an IC3 case & sent that information to eBay. Within an hour they responded, reversed their decision and returned all of my money. Unfortunately, superhawkwss6 stole my CB radio and eBay will likely not suspend or close his account, but rather allow him to continue his criminal activity. I think I'll still file a report with our sheriff's dept (the sheriff is a friend of mine) though I know this type of crime isn't worth their time. This guy needs to be stopped and I'm certainly going to do my best to make that happen.
