Wouldn't run that radio in a truck unless you install a 6m-80m screwdriver antenna. If'n your gonna talk to other truckers, they won't be impressed with its AM performance compared to a Galaxy or Uniden radio. Wouldn't hack the 2000 just to make it a AM radio. Most use it for SSB phone, CW, or digital modes.
Just the opposite. The TS-2000, 590 and 480 all sound very good and loud on AM with some processing. Very clear with good fidelity with the MC-43 hand mic. Even better with other microphones. Adjust the processor input setting to yield about about 5 dB of compression on the meter, set the TX audio bandwidth to 3Khz and the TX EQ to off. You will get unsolicited compliments on the audio.
Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
