I just got one of these. And was wondering if anyone has used the Mutek board in it?I have read where the mutek board worked wonders for some Icom radios. Can u still get the Mutek boards? Are they worth looking in it? And is there anything else I should know about this radio or mods for it? Thanks

I used to have a TS-700A and I installed an ARR gasFet preamp into it. It really made the receiver come alive! That is the route I would take. I do not know what the difference is between the A and S versions. It was fairly easy to install in the A.

I have an Icom 251A, which Mutek made a front end board for. I procured mine recently and it has a really hot receiver, I have not looked inside to see if it has a preamp or Mutek board inside. PO did not mention it.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
