Anyone have any experience with these, I've seen a few threads on here, same as a firebird 500, 2 transformers that are prone to failure, 1x3 6lq6.
Mine looks different than what I see doing a Google image search, silver face with woodgrain along the bottom.
It seems to work fine, hi low has been disabled and a pot added marked am.
Would it be worth converting it from a 1 driving 3 to a straight 4?
My hopes would be to run a 40w radio into it without killing it, I know an ameritron al84 uses 4 sweep tube and can be driven with 100 watts.
Assuming the transformers hold up to that change would an al84 schematic be a good reference point, or am I way off, I haven't compared the 2 schematics yet.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
