kl-500

It appears they run 3 12 amp fuses. I would run at least a 50 amp power supply just for some headroom. The only other option would be keep the drive levels down and run it on low or med power. This would let you use it on your 36 amp supply until you can get a larger one.

KL-503

I run a KL-503 with a Mega-Watt 400 36-40 amp power supply. I believe the wattage output on both these RM Italy's are the same. On high (6) I dead key 2 watts in 250 watts out with a forward swing of 345 watts AM can't remember SSB out put right now but I think it's tickling the 500 watt mark. I have checked my wattage out put with a much bigger supply to make sure it was enough but I also do run my cooling fans and my 148GTL, meter, lights etc. on a separate supply because I'm pretty sure I am right at it's limits. My two power supplies the Ashtron and the Mega-Watt give out absolutely no unwanted hash noises either I wouldn't be able to handle the slightest interference.

I just checked again to make sure my claim to 250 DK is correct. I have done so many checks on the output readings with different meters, power supplies etc. From my personal experience before I got some wild readings from voltage input being to high ( I have since bought a multi meter) to SWR's varying. This is at exactly 13.8 volts and I am using a antenna matcher that I am able with fine tunning to get a 1.1 on both the inline meter and my 148 meter. I did notice my wattage output change with higher swr's. I still don't know for sure when my voltage input was at 14.5 volts if the higher wattage readings were correct. I know that readings in the 14 volt range is very possible in a automobile set up.
