Larsen Tri Band Antenna

Over on Radio-Reference is a contributor goes by prcguy

Worth the time to read his posts on antennas of this type (and more exotic). I don’t see disagreement, it’s in the details offered that the post search is worth the time.

Physical properties of design & construction.

This jobber is a real performer on 800 MHz. VHF is darn good, too. Running it mobile as a scanner antenna. Stock, it is 1.6:1 on 2 meter, so it's usable. Definitely helps receive simulcast system in my area. Ordering another one for base use. I'll use my radial kit with it.

“So, no more Super M Ultra Mobile Scanner Antenna!?”

The Tri Band is definitely a fantastic scanner antenna. I've been doing some comparisons and it beats all I got. I ordered another one to use as a base antenna. It'll sit on top of my ground plane concoction. 45' with LMR-400. If I run across lower loss cable, I'll swap it out.

My Super M Ultra works great on all bands except VHF. Surprisingly, it's a little deaf, which surprised me. The biggest surprise, is how well it works on low band.
