Lightning Antennas GR45

I've never used or seen one in person but they've been available it seems for 35+ years.

All I noticed from the pic is it seems to violate one of the rules of loading an antenna, the capacity hat appears to be too close to the coil.
I would expect less local vertical performance than a Whiskey still type mobile antenna.
If I had one of these I'd add 12"-18" between the coil & cap hat and remove a winding or two.

Seems a bit pricey for an oddly shaped mobile antenna, even if it does have almost 1/2 the amount of magic Antron9.9 gain :sneaky:
I have to agree with you sir on what I'm seeing and I'm just applying common sense with past expieriance with experimenting with many differant antennas for 30+ years so my final decision about the gr-45 is just marketing hype selling crap that just looks cool because it's differant.

I had one back in the 90's.
I remember testing it at the Belmar marina, comparing it with 102" fighting stick, a coil and and a Wilson 5000.
~ Equal to the 102"
Better then the Wilson 5000 or coil.

It smacked a tree and got recycled fairly quicky on my chevy van.
Not worth the $$$.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
