Lincoln hit by lightning, worth fixing?

Open it up and give a look see. I have a 2510 that took a really bad power surge on base(not from a lightening strike mind you). I thought it was toast as well. I sent it to Doc of Doc's Electronics in Buffalo NY and he was able to revive it. If you have a local tech who can inspect it, it might be worth a try.

It may be worth saving.

I would check the Voltage regulators (all 3)

THere are 2 (one 8v and one 5v)on the Micro PCB and 1(an 8 Volt) on the main Chassi.

Of course chck for Shorted caps, and Burnt Traces on the input and ant connections.

you might get lucky.

Hi folks, A friend of mine just lost his Lincoln in his truck to a lightning strike last Saturday.

The radio still powers up, but theres no frequency displayed, and the meter stays fully pegged as well. No X-mit/Rx either....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/eek.gif ALT=":eek">

Question is, is this worth fixing or just using it for parts only?

The radio, and antenna(4 waymag mount) weren't "really" grounded properly.....

I'm thinking the radio is toast, but we haven't (dared to) open it up and look inside yet. The Coax and antenna are un damaged, so, it probably wasn't a direct hit,but close enough to do enough damage...

Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">
