I'm supposed to finalize my trade tomorrow evening. I need to know the maximum diameter the ferrel will accept. I have a 72" whip off my PL5000. It's 3.5mm, so it's probably to big. I have a 60" Larsen whip that's 2.5mm.

Supposedly, the Tarheel plays better with a 56" whip. I'd rather use the 3.5mm whip if'n it'll fit.

Anyone know what max whip the Tarheel will accept. Also, I wonder if the ferrel on the Tarheel will come off. If so, I'd swap it for a ferrel that'll hold the 3.5mm whip.

I got my Breedlove UHF mount with Comet stud adapter. I'm all ready to mount the Tarheel. I also ordered a Tunematic Lite controller.

I've been using the whip from my Sirio 5000 for the last few years on my Little Tarheel II.

My stock Tarheel ferrule is to small for my Sirio's whip. I had a spare ferrule from something else that fit it, so I just swapped it. I then went with my 72" Larsen whip and cut it for 56".the Sirio was heavier, thicker and a little unwieldy.
