Anyone have any 2 meter equipment you would want to part with fairly inexpensive? I am looking for someting in a mobile, FM, PL tone for repeaters, and single band OK. I read great things about the Radio Shack HTX-242 but can't locate one around here. Gigaparts has the Icom 2100h for $135, but I was looking for something a little less spendy, I know I want a lot for nothing but money is tight these days. If I can't find any used within my price range I will probably go with the Icom. Thanks in advance.

You might want to check HERE and see if there are any hamfest in your area. most will have booths from dealers and manufactures with good deals on new stuff and there is usually tons of used 2 meter stuff around. You can check HERE for local club info and if they have a site will usually list the local repeaters freq.s,and tones. I would suggest scanning the 70cm repeaters for a while and see if there is any activity on them before buying a dual band. there are plenty of 440 repeaters around here but very rare you here anyone on them. For a new 2 meter you might also check out the new Yaesu FT-2800m.....SWEET! It's like a huge heat sink with a face plate attached<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> HRO has them for $159 shipped to your door.

Thanks Mike,

I have looked for hamfest in my area, not much going on for sure. I do like the looks of the Yaesu, but if I but new I will probably go with the Icom. I have a friend who has one and he really likes it. Thanks for the help my friend, hope to catch you on the HF bands real soon.

Eddy if you go for the IC-2100H you will like it.It replaced the IC-2000H which is what I have and it works great. The rx is bullet proof and will take all the intermod you can throw at it and never let out a squawk.Took a trip from Nova Scotia a few years ago down along the east coast of the USA to Baltimore and passed through a lot of highly populated areas and not once did the squelch break due to intermod. They are a fairly rugged rig too.Great for the dump truck.

You can still find a HTX-242 on eBay. 10W/45W They are great rigs, and the price is right. Don't pay over $100, and make sure the seller has mounting bracket and knobs.

5 minute mod nets you 132-174 MHz transmit, contact me if you need details on the modification.
