A friend got this thing for nothing 1x2x6 8950 tubes. So I cleaned it up best I could tested all the tubes bought Nomad radios hv supply board and the rest of the electrolytic caps, was going to put in the protection diodes on the cathode feed to the 2 drivers and the 6 finals and found a small 22uh choke for the drivers fried. My 1st question is the amp value for a replacement the tube data sheet says 400ma current and 1.4 amp max current I'm not sure what the actual amp draw is going to be on the drivers? Looking through Nomads post on this amp I could see the choke in question and it looks to be a 410ma like the one I saw on digikey same colors on the markings. My 2nd question is about the rating on the 6amp diodes to upgrade the bridge rectifiers and the cathode feed to the finals I've got plenty of 3amp spares anyone have a good number for the 6amp. My 3rd question is about where he added a diode, cap and resistor from the heater voltage feed to cathode on one of the final tubes. This amp has that set-up on the pre-driver tube but nothing on the drivers or finals should this be added to both or just the finals also the schematic shows the resistor at 470 ohm the one in the amp is marked 500 ohm but has gone high to 1k, thoughts on the 470 ohm and wattage current one looks to be a 3 or a 5 watt can't tell if its carbon comp or not. (thoughts) Lastly I don't want to ass-u-me anything but the faraday cage looks to be 1/4 inch galvanized hardware cloth? I know it's a crap shoot on this ole dinosaur
but I figured it will be worth it to see the smile on his face while he's playing with it till he lets the magic smoke out. Thanks in advance for all the help greatly appreciated. Ira
