Hey: Gang.
I'm working on a Magnum S9 with dual 2SC1969's. It had very low tx power & no tx or rx on AM mode only so I replaced the 2SC2166 driver & both finals which fixed the low power issue. It now does about 40 FM & SSB but there is still no TX or RX at all on AM mode. FM & SSB tx & rx fine. I do see rx signals on AM mode on the radio meter but no signal comes from the speaker. Any ideas ???

I hate to be the one to suggest this, but maybe the mode selector switch?

They don't go bad this way very often, but the first thing to investigate is to see if DC power is reaching the AM circuits in the first place.

Any time some part of a radio goes totally dead, checking the power feeding to that part is the starting point.

Can you follow a schematic diagram enough to probe with a meter for the DC voltages that power AM mode?

Available data for that model is here: https://cbtricks.org/radios/rflimited/magnum_s9/
