Although if in the hands of a competent tech they can make it sing and dance - but it will have limitations.

It'll have two left feet and be tone-deaf.

As far as two left feet, being modulation - the biggest obstacle you've got has been addressed - it's the antenna - that's it's Tone-deaf part. Using that antenna fixes that problem. You'll hear as well as it's been programmed / engineered - by Maxon - It's only as good as the conditions it's operated in and use for it's own signal to get out and hear from others.

IMO - the antenna usually is the weakest link

The limitations on this setup, however, are within the radio itself.

It's not a Galactic screamer, but can do more Dancing than it's been shipped with. How well? It's - like Restrictor plate racing - remove the Restrictor and you will have a lot less of these guys crossing the finish line - ALIVE. So the restrictor plate that is on this radio - not only let's it live, but offers a LONGER SERVICE LIFE THAN WITHOUT IT.

Putting another Mic on it is a challenge, for each Mic uses it's own element and will have a different sound quality to it.

I can vouch for my own experience using Maxon that Power Mics can make the thing sound even worse than using the Stock mic.
