Mechanical echo

Is it possible that radon degrades tapes?
No. Not Radon. Radon usually can appear when a basement in not fully sealed and so it seeps in from the ground or foundation walls, and also allowing moisture to come into the basement.

The main threats to the longevity and playback quality of audio tapes are:
  • Environmental factors: High temperatures, humidity, sunlight (UV radiation), and dust can degrade the tape's adhesive properties and the binder that holds the magnetic particles to the base.
  • Mechanical wear: Repeated playback and improper handling can cause the tape to stretch, deform, or break.
  • Improper storage: Storing tapes in areas with fluctuating temperatures or humidity, near magnetic fields, or without proper support can lead to degradation.
  • Tape aging: Even under ideal conditions, the magnetic signals on the tape will slowly lose their properties over time.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
