mic for rci 2970dx

If you are going to use this radio for a base station setup; I would choose a Turner+3 mic.
These radios lack some audio 'punch'. So using a mic that has a built-in compressor - like the Turner+3 does - will maximize the transmit audio.

I know if at least one guy that uses the Turner+3 on his RCI- 2970DX that has excellent results. Very nice sound . . .

Hi, what is the mic recommendation for the Ranger rci 2970dx?? Astatic d104m6 or 636L or bravo+ ect, thanks

none of these unless its a mobile install then id say a 636l
for a base a tuner plus 3 works great
tuner plus super side kick sounds good [not as good as the 3 but close]
astatic 878 [new mic] this mic sounds really good even on ssb much better than
a d104.

The TURNER PLUS THREE is a great match and if mobile I also have the handheld PLUS THREE and these mics are excellent matches for these particular RCI chassis radios. The Plus Three compression brings the radios audio back to life with adding the missing lowend punch back and doing away with the tincan sound.

The ASTATIC 639 is also a good choice of microphone for these radios as far as a non amplified microphone goes and I had also mentione din another simular post that ASTATIC also has models not listed on sites but on their site you may find them. They have professional models for police ,fire and resue along with other government uses.

Desk mike combo

How about the MFJ-299 compression desk mike, in it's various guises, with the 2970 series radios, when used as a base station?

You have your up/down scanning functions with this mike also.

Interested in opinions on this combination.

:)

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
