Midland 1000z for good price

yup, not a bad price at all. scored a uniden 68xl on ebay for 35 bucks, shipped. and a bone stock older 148 for less than 40 shipped!

There's a lot you can do to a stock 148 to really make the audio even nicer than it already is. Those are really great radios and the RX is one of the best you could get in a CB.

Playinmud: for the squelch on your 29, it might just need a RX alignment & squelch adjustment. You'll need to send it to somone with a signal generator, though. But the 148 does just have a better receiver so you'll still notice a difference. With a 29 (since it's AM only), you CAN get some pretty decent power out of those if you want. It's not uncommon to be able to get close to 50 watts peak (read from an active peak reading meter like a Bird43P) out of those radios if you know how to do it.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
