Lots of noise comes thru. I've used mine that way a couple of times when the real mobile failed. A ClearSpeech speaker helps to get rid of most of the noise. It also does not have a strong noise blanker circuit, reduces but does not eliminate ignition noise. Great little toy. Needs the external antenna for decent reception in car. Don't know if it can be tweaked in any way. My Service tech wouldn't touch it.
It is good for what it is and gives better performance than some of the small mobiles. I like it in spite of its limitations.
I also got the Handsfree kit for it from Ratshack, but noise is a problem with the earpiece. It takes a fine adjustment of the squelch and volume to be able to understand without going deaf from noise.
Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
