If they did it was most likely a 23 channel. Not saying a 40 channel model doesn’t exist, just that if it does it would be exceedingly rare and is probably owned by a unicorn.Thx. very much.. Do U know if Ward had a SSB Base Radio?? W.G.
Nice find, thanks!Radio Shack TRC-450 uses PC622AA

Unicorn, sounds like me, 74, live by myself, no other humans.. If anyone finds one (23 or 40 channel) I would like to buy it.. I just bought a Ward 702.. I am also looking for a General Radiotelephone MC-9 & a SB-72 (SSB).. And a Craig L232 which is a SSB model.. Thx. to everyone for their help.. 73, W.G. Davis/ K4WGD and KCX-1723 (I wish the FCC would have kept the CB License program)If they did it was most likely a 23 channel. Was TR34 near the back next to the AM Regulator? Reason I ask is because I fixed a President AR144 radio this way. It was transmitting on AM, but that transistor was getting HOT instantly. Put in a 2SC945 in its place and its working nice and cool.Pulled this thing off the shelf I had thrown it on to look at when I got smarter. Wasn't getting any smarter after three years so I thought I'd take another crack at it just to see if maybe my dumb ass could fix it anyways.
The AM no transmit problem turned out to be an own goal. The pinout of the substitute transistor (NTE85) was different from the original (2SC711) and I had somehow missed that. Turned TR34 around and AM transmit is working again.
Thanks again to those who provided technical documentation. What clued me in was that the NTE85 is also a replacement for the 2SC945, and this radio has both the 2SC945 and the 2SC711 in it. Looked them up in the doc NZ8N provided to find that they have different pinouts. You already know how the rest of the story turned out.
Don't know why I didn't think of that three years ago.
