Look at the price of diesel !

That’s confirmation it’s late 1973 or beyond and not earlier (thru 1979). America had energy so cheap it was stupefying. So the game was rigged to change that.

Diesel would have been 24-cents/gallon on sale just a year or so before.

28-cents with no discount.

Remember that today’s price would be from $2/gl to $4/gl to equal the shock. (Greater, actually, as in 1973 no one had GP credit cards past maybe Sears and the gas station card. No easy credit).
