:?: Question : When I mount a vertical beam, wheather it be Yagi or Quad , will the pole or tower which it is mounted be in the way of a good transmission or rejection?? I am hearing I need to put 10 feet of stinger coming out of thr rotor to clear the tower/pole.. HELP !!!!

Thanks A lot.. Desert Rat04

rotor clearance

I just installed a PDL 2 and the rotor is about half way thru the beam or about 4.5 feet. what little reflection u get form the rotor being there far weighs less than the concern of having the rotor 10 ft below and wondering if its going to snap

hope this helps

Desertrat04,

Where do you plan on mounting rotor??? How large of
a beam are you thinking about getting???
You will have to have a Thrust Bearing if mounting
your rotor inside the tower. Check out Rohn tower
site for ideas.
A small beam like a PDL-2 or a Signal Engineering
Superhawk you can mount a TV rotor near the
path of the wires up near antenna. They make a
Thrust-bearing for this kind of mounting also.
Doesn't seem to effect anything.
Some people also run there elements in the path of
the tower, requires a much shorter pipe.
I like to clear my elements from tower. Using a longer
pipe. Slide a Pipe inside your pipe to reinforce strength.
I run a Signal Engineering White Lightning 4 element Quad.
Requires about 7-8ft of pipe above tower to clear.
A yagi beam will take 10-11 ft of pipe to clear.
