No need unless it has trouble tuning the lower bands or the whip is too short. Most screwdriver antennas do not use a capacity hat although most offer them as an option.
Got the shunt coil adjusted today! Made a few stateside contacts on 20 and a mobile to mobile in Canary Islands with 100 watts.....tunes 80 thru 17 well....Im a little high on 15 thru 10. I'll get it finalized tomorrow :drool:
