I made some neat 20 Meter contacts last nite:

The first was Raratonga, one of the Cook Islands: One of only two operators on the island

The other was Savaii, one of the Samoan Islands. He is a missionary, running an Icom 706mkiig on a car battery with a G5RV strung between bamboo poles.

Pretty neat!!

Good stuff. Those are a couple of good contacts for sure.I have been runninmg around in the mobile with the 6m antenna on waiting for the band to open and I think it is about time to pull it and mount the 20m hamstick.I just have no time for base operations with two kids in soccer 4 nights a week and a wife that works too.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":("> How much power do you run and what for an antenna on 20m?I just use 100w and the Hamstick mobile or an old Cushcraft A3 tribander on the base when time permits.

At home I use an Alpha Delta DX-CC multiband dipole with an Icom 746 Pro, and run anywhere from 100 watts - legal limit power. Mobile, I use an Icom 706 mkiig with a Tarheel Antenans, Little Tarheel 2 screwdriver. I'd like to have the model 100 Tarheel screwdriver, but that's gonna have to wait for a while....
