I am new to ham I have my Tech ticket and am working on my General.
After asking several hams on the forum and researching I purchased a Yeasu 857d. Now I would like to get some input on antennas. These will be base station antennas. I know I am restricted on certain frequencies thats why I am working on my general. The first time I heard a guy talking on a radio and he was in Germany I was hooked. so please lend some advice.

1. Dual band 144/440
2. 6,10,15,20

I am assuming base antennas? Get a Comet or Diamond dual band for 2&440 then build yourself a dipole for hf . Get a tuner and you can use the HF dipole on 6.

To expand on what 'CLL' said a little.
I have to agree, I've had very good luck with Comet dual-band antennas. I would suggest the 'largest' one you can afford, it does make a difference. HF antennas are a different story, they are largrer, take more room. That 'room' thingy depends on your circumstances, what you have to work with. A dipole isn't the best way of doing things, but they certainly do work, in most cases you'll never hear the difference.
Have fun.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
