After being away from CBs for many years (20 years with a Browning unit) I want to take the plunge again and get a unit for my Jeep. I spend a lot of time on the highway and besides looking for cops and getting traffic updates, I want to have some emergency communications.

Things have changed in the years that I've been away, I see references to SSB, and export 10 meter systems. The questions that I have are do I need these in New England and how many other people here use them.

Right now, I would like to keep the unit portable by using a magnetic antenna and a cigarette lighter plug. Will this type of setup work well?. Someone recommended a Uniden PC 78 and a Wilson 1000 antenna. Any other recommendations?

Sorry to be long winded. Thanks for the help.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
