A lot of fellow CB radio euthenists are looking for a compact CB to fit in with the interior styling of modern automobiles. There are a lot of compact CBs. The Uniden 520 was and will probably be the standard to which other are compared. Many of the CBs are just the same radio in a different package, but we utilize said radio because the fit in the space we have available. Size does matter and there is always a compromise. My father drives a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. Sometime in 2016, I figured out a way to install a CB antenna that met his requirements and usage profile for the CB. He uses the CB around town and on the highways for traffic reports. He always had a CB in his Chevy Suburban back when The Dukes and Dallas was on TV. He ran a Robyn LB 23a- the Robyn had a Uniden mainboard inside. He even had a PA speaker under the hood. My dad always pulls his Pathfinder in the garage so I had to find a 2 foot antenna and mount that would tune with the mount on the hood, home built with single car garage back when no one had two cars. Back in the thrilling days of yesteryear he just bent the Shakesphere Big Stick over and caught it on the rear window gutter. I used an adjustable HAM radio NMO trunk lip mount with a Tram NMO to 3/8 inch adapter to an Everhardt Tiger 2 foot flexible whip- see pics. The Antenna tuned for SWR: Channel 1- 2.1, Channel 20- 1.6, Channel 40- 2.1. He leaves the CB on 19, for using a 2 foot antenna this is wonderful solution IMHO. The range is 2 mile transmit and receive easy here in western PA, by local radio checks. 3 miles they can here me clearly, the receive is broken up on my end. A Uniden 510, which was the first radio I bought myself while in college was the radio that sat in the center console, in front of the shifter since 2016. The Uniden 510 had a stock 4 watts swinging to whatever, stock 4 watt DK tune by Bob's CB. My fathers birthday was March 3, so this year I bought him a new CB. I ordered up a President Andy. I can not say enough good things about the small President. I fits perfectly in the space in front of the shifter in the Nissan Pathfinder. I have it setting upside down so the speaker is not obstructed, and a cigarette lighter plug is installed- see pics. The cigarette lighter jack is just in front of the radio. I set all the settings on the radio, the power and squelch knobs are accessible upside down. The mic is a stock Stryker mic. The stock President mic sounded tinny. The local radio checks are returning as loud and clear. I left the roger beep, the talkback and the echo off. My father is very pleased. I am writing this post just to point out not to over look the new compact President Andy, or the President Andy 2 FCC. The Everhardt 2 foot Tiger flexible antenna tunes well for the situation for a short antenna. When comparing the old Uniden 510 from the 1993 to the new President Andy, it was enough of an improvement in the transmit and clarify of receive that I wanted to share MHO online. I double checked the SWR readings today to make sure nothing had changed with the antenna set up.

Nice gift for Dad!

Don't give him too much performance - with that; he'd be checking in on his kids more often.

You'd be surprised at what kind of conversation could come up about what was heard on that radio of his.

Especially if you caused it...

Wish him a Happy (VERY EARLY) Fathers day - and a belated happy Birthday from us...

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
